Northern Lincolnshire Business Awards 2008

Judges

In 2008 there will be a panel of 14 judges split into three groups. Each group will judge four awards. The two Chairs of the Chamber in North Lincolnshire (Jacqui Johnson) and North East Lincolnshire (Peter Everett) are joined on the panel by a senior management delegate from each of the 12 Award sponsors. As you will see they represent a wide variety of industry, business and commercial interests throughout the region. Judges receive copies of all the applications in their group well in advance of the judging date to allow them to thoroughly assess the entries.

Jacqui is one of the ten partners in Grange Wintringham, a Grimsby law firm with a long history in the town. Her speciality is wills, probates, inheritance tax planning and elderly client work.
David Thompson
HSBC
David is Head of Commercial Banking for HSBC Bank in North and North East Lincolnshire, responsible for HSBC's commercial banking teams based at Grimsby and Scunthorpe with eleven Commercial Managers plus support and specialist staff. David has worked for HSBC for 25 years and has extensive commercial and corporate banking experience.

Hugh has responsibility for developing the marketing and communications strategy for the Institute. New to educational marketing, he joined the Institute in April 2007. Before that he had an 18 year career in newspaper marketing, sales and circulation in regional and national newspapers.

Derek is the Chief Executive of the South Humber Business Advice Centre Ltd (SoHBAC). The business advice centre offers business information, advice, training & consultancy support appropriate to all stages of business development. Derek has been with the company throughout its 25 years in business & has been at the helm since its second year.

Simon is the Associate Director responsible for the Commercial Banking part of the RBS group in Northern Lincolnshire, looking after local SME businesses with a turnover between £1m and £25m. Simon is from the area and lives locally, giving him a great insight into business across the area.

Nina has worked for ConocoPhillips for 7 years looking after their Communications, Media and Public Affairs. She also sits on the Business In The Community Leadership team and believes strongly that businesses should positively impact the areas they operate in through community relations and initiatives. Nina is also Vice Chair of the Chamber’s North East Lincolnshire Area Council.

Paul Drummond, Sales Director – Regions North at Kingston Communications has been with the business for over 10 years and has a background in telecommunications. He is responsible for the delivery of sales and customer service within Hull, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and North of England. Married with two children, Paul lives in East Yorkshire.

Associated British Ports
Simon Brett is the Deputy Port Manager for Associated British Ports (ABP) at Grimsby & Immingham. He has worked for ABP since 1991 and has held various senior management positions during this time at Hull, Cardiff and Newport in addition to his current role. Grimsby & Immingham are two of ABP’s four Humber Ports, Hull & Goole being the others. The movement of chemicals is an important commodity flow through each of these locations.
